The first and foremost important reason to clean your dryer vent is for SAFTEY. Many house fires start from a clogged dryer vent that catches on fire - an estimated 3000+ cases of home fires a year in the U.S. alone. It doesn't matter if it's an electric or gas dryer; both have risk of starting a fire. Lint is very flammable and ignites fire quickly. If the dryer is gas operated, there is also a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. 

The second reason you want to clean the dryer vent is to improve efficiency and reduce costs of your utility bill. If the dryer vent is clogged or has poor airflow it will take much longer to dry the laundry. So instead of 35 minutes to dry, it could take hours to dry one load of laundry; meaning more electricity/gas has been wasted inefficiently.

The third reason is to prolong the life of your dryer. 

It's recommended to clean the dryer vent AT LEAST once a year. Most HOA makes it mandatory.

Signs you may notice when the dryer vent getting clogged:

• Takes longer to dry same load size

• Wet lint inside the vent

• Power/Gas bill is higher than usual

The cleaning process:

We use air jets or a spinning brush to scrape the inside of the dryer vent - depending on the the type of vent and the condition it's in. While we scrape the vent, we turn the dryer on to help blow out the loose lint and debris. In the case the dryer isn't operating, we would use a different source of air to push the lint out.
